OSR

CRITICAL. is developing a novel decentralized Critical Raw Materials (‘CRMs’) refining technology, enabling On-site Recovery of (Critical) Raw Materials. By using solar-powered refining units, combined with batteries, no grid electricity is required. This enables refining of CRMs at virtually any location.

Advantages for large disposers of metal containing waste streams

1. Cost savings on transportation
Local recovery reduces the need to transport waste streams over long distances, which reduces logistics costs and environmental impact.

2. Lower environmental impact
Using off-the-grid solar and battery storage minimizes CO₂ emissions compared to traditional refining methods.

3. Faster processing time
Containerized refining can be deployed directly at the location of the waste stream, which speeds up waste processing and reduces storage costs.

4. Compliance and risk reduction
Local processing enables companies to comply with regulations faster and reduces risks of illegal export and liability for improper off-site processing.

5. Added value for the region
Processing locally creates economic benefits for the region, such as employment and investment in technology infrastructure.

6. Flexibility and scalability
Containerized systems are modular and can easily be scaled or adapted to specific waste streams, providing cost-effective solutions for disposers.

7. Reduced dependency on global chains
Local recovery strengthens the strategic autonomy of companies and countries by promoting a more circular economy.

8. Positive brand value
Disposers who opt for sustainable processing can use this as part of their CSR strategy and strengthen their reputation.
